Gold & Silversmithing Jewellery - Making Courses + Workshops

As this year comes to a close, we have now set the Course Dates, Course Topics and the Venues for the New Year 2012. You will find all information on the relevant pages of this website.

Jewellery School has been growing over the past few years and now offers more Courses and a second Instructor for Dichroic Glass making.

The expansion made it neccessary to move to New Premises on the Sunshine Coast. 

We still do specific, individual 1-on-1 Tuition and Group Tuition for the Gem Club on demand at the Buderim facility, but run all our regular Courses and Workshops at the new Peregian Beach Location.

We look forward to a busy New Year and helping all our students to learn & improve on their new Jewellery -making Skills!

We will close for holidays from the 22nd of December until 15.th of January 2012.

You can send us emails during that time, but have to wait for a response until mid of January.

New Courses 2012 will start End of January with a Weekend Workshop and beginning of February with two 4 week Courses.

This Course is run by a Glass Specialist with many years of dedicated Glass work.

Hello again!

I just did 2 seperate Jewellery Courses a week ago...

Both were fully booked and went really very well.

We have some very keen and motivated people wanting to learn Jewellery making.

The '10 News' TV Station did a very short segment on the rising popularity of the old Crafts like Pottery , Silversmithing etc

There are about 20 seconds, on us at the Buderim Gem Club on this Video

With the end of this financial year, I am now starting to ponder what types of Courses to run in 2012...

There is a lot of interest in the weekend courses...         Maybe I need to offer more of those next year?

Hope everyone is well and not affected by our recent Floods or Cyclons....

We started the regular  5 week Jewellery Courses in january  2011

and are now getting ready for the next Blocks in March.

5 th and 7 th of March are the starting dates for the New Courses.

If you ar interested in joining one of the two Courses, you need to

enrol by monday the 28th of March!

For the advanced Jewellery Makers amoungst you,

"Gemstone Setting Techniques Course"

It runs on two consecutive Thursdays:   the 24th and the 31st of March.

I have had a number of People contacting me with Offers of

second hand Tools, Books and even Diamonds....

Some are pretty Good Deals....Second hand Jewellery Tools are not often found...

Last time the Tools sold within 3 hours...so you need to be quick!

Last but not least:

Every now and then I go and purchase Old Gold, broken jewellery, those items

you have sitting in your drawer, collecting dust and never to be worn again.

I am going to do a big re-melt and refine the old Gold, to work it into

fresh, new manufacturing Gold.

Need a minimum of  1/2 Kilo of Gold in total to make it worth our while....

Doing this I can offer you much better Prices than for example the Pawn Brokers do...

or the people we see at the Shopping Centre offering Cash for Gold.

I will do my Re-melt next week on Wednesday!

If you want to turn your Old, broken bits of Gold into Cash, let me know

as soon as possible!

Collect your bits and piece, seperate and sort in 9ct, 14 ct or 18ct Gold if possible and

either bring it to the Gem Club when I am running my Saturday afternoon

or Monday afternoon Course...

Or if you cannot come in person, you can post the Gold to :

Place the Gold in a Video Package and pack well so it does not rattle...

Upon receipt I will accurately weigh your Gold and contact you with a purchase Offer.

If you are happy with it, we go ahead, do the melt and I pay out the agreed Money..in Cash.

If you are not happy for whatever reason, I shall return your Gold, no question asked!

With Christmas coming up so soon and the year ending quickly,

This year I  will stop my Tuition-work by mid of december and start again mid of january...

Next  year will be exciting with a lot of new activities

and the expansion of Jewellery School....I am looking at cooperating with other tutors nationwide.

I must admit, I really do enjoy teaching all those people eager to learn new Skills!

4th of October update............

Just got back from the U.S and found  a lot of messages in my email Inbox.

Looks like the 1 day Intro course on the 14th of October will commence!

Also, the 5 week Course starting on the 16th of October seems to fill up quickly.

It's monday...just got back from ROMA, I hour flight out of Brisbane.

Had the pleasure of running a two day weekend workshop ENAMELLING  with the Roma Silversmith Group.

It went really well, we got a lot of work done...very varied...I hope the participants will continue with Enamelling

on a regular basis! The group was 10 people strong  which worked well for everyone.

The facility in Roma is really nice! A New Community Arts Centre right in the middle of town.

A modern building housing: A library, a gallery and a number of studios...Pottery, Silversmithing, Painting etc

We are already talking about doing another workshop in March or June 2011...I am looking forward to

working in Roma next time!

It's going to be a busy week, I have 2 students coming from Bundaberg

to do a 3 day 1-on-1 course , Silversmithing with me in Buderim. Thursday Friday Saturday.

In October I have a new student coming from interstate, doing a 4 weeks course, 1-on-1

Sarah is very keen to expand her skills in Gold and Silversmithing and we will be doing some

serious work to get her onto the next level.

I have designed a specific course to cater for her needs that will cover Silversmithing,

Gemstone setting, Lost wax casting, Wax carving and Lapidary work (gem stone cutting)

With the beginning of August upon us, a quick update on current events:

Enrol now if you want to get into this exciting area of Jewellery Making.

You only have until the 13th of august to enrol..latest!

If you want to learn Enamelling on Silver / Copper / Gold...

I am planning to run a 2 Day advanced course end of

October, beginning of November.

Because of  the different enamels that need to be ordered in advance

you need to Enrol for the Enamelling Course way in advance,

latest by first week of September!

So if  Enamelling is what you want to explore let me know as soon as possible.

Hello again!

We had a number of last minute sign-ups for the saturday Course, starting tomorrow.

About 4 people are beginners and we have 3 experienced people working on more complicated projects.
